In November 1954, Marubeni Corporation (Marubeni Japan), one of Japan's largest general trading companies, started her activity through the Representative Office in Hong Kong.   After only a 7-month period, in June 1955, Marubeni Japan promoted the Company from a Representative Office to a Regional Branch. The Company has thereafter started her own trade business in Hong Kong.   In June 1974, Marubeni Hong Kong Limited (the Company) was incorporated as the wholly owned subsidiary of Marubeni Japan.   In April 2001, the Company changed her name to Marubeni Hong Kong & South China Limited in order to match with her actual business activities stated below.   Through this more-than-50-year long business history, the Company has spread her wing over South-East Asian areas including Hong Kong and China. Her service line has expanded from traditional tradings to the value added support in response to various customer needs.   When the Branch started its business in Hong Kong, there was only 8 staff. And now, as a result of business expansion, the Company holds her own subsidiary company (Marubeni Guangzhou Trading Co., Ltd.) and 2 liaison offices (Xiamen and Kunming), and has more than 150 staff under the direct umbrella of the Company.   The Company has successfully established the strong network among numerous business partners in various industries along these years. The Company shall continue to grow up together with her business partners and the regional economy.
